External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar gave a stern warning on terrorism at IIT Madras, calling Pakistan a 'bad neighbour'. He said that if a country continuously promotes terrorism, then India has every right to protect its people. Citing Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar made it clear that India will take necessary steps to protect its national interests and no one can tell it what it should do.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that the Bullet Train will start running in India from 15 August 2027. In the first phase it will run 100 kilometers between Surat and Vapi. 55 works of Ahmedabad-Mumbai corridor have been completed, due to which the distance of 508 km will be covered in 2 hours 17 minutes. This project is being built with the cooperation of Japan. Along with this, the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run between Guwahati-Kolkata from 18-19 January.
