Dhaba owner Channan Singh has been arrested for illegally serving liquor at a dhaba in Baltana, Zirakpur. A joint team of Excise Department and Police recovered liquor authorized for sale in Chandigarh during the raid. The customers fled from the spot. Police have registered a case under the Excise Act and are now investigating the source of supply of illicit liquor.

Sandhya Tiwari, 38, wife of a property dealer, committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan in Anand Nagar, Rawatpur, Kanpur. At the time of the incident, their two-year old innocent daughter was crying in the room, hearing which the family members came to know. Police are investigating the case, although the reasons for suicide are not yet known. There was a sacred thread ceremony of the son in the family on 23rd January.

Food Safety and Drug Administration FSDA will verify the licenses and warehouses of wholesale drug sellers in Uttar Pradesh from February. This campaign is being run to stop the misuse of cough syrup and narcotics medicines containing codeine. Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob has instructed Assistant Commissioners and Inspectors to check the registered address, storage arrangement and presence of the appropriate person. There will also be an opportunity to return the license before the campaign.

The injured in road accidents on highways and expressways in Ghaziabad will now get free treatment in private hospitals. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the health department has become active. In the first phase, ten big private hospitals in the district have been designated, where the injured will get free treatment up to Rs 1.50 lakh or up to a week. With this scheme the lives of seriously injured people can be saved.
