Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector ASI Mukhtar Ahmed Khan of Bemina Police Station, Srinagar red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant. The ASI was accused of demanding bribe by threatening to implicate the complainant in an old case. The ACB took this action after investigating the complaint and further investigation into the matter is underway.
In view of Mahashivratri and Holi in Muzaffarpur, DM and SSP reviewed the law and order. A complete ban has been imposed on DJ equipment, an FIR will be registered for violation. At Dhanbad station, RPF and CIB caught a smuggler who was taking 11 minors to Tamil Nadu. These minors were from Madhepura in Bihar and the plan was to make them labourers. Investigation revealed that the Aadhaar cards of the minors were tampered with to make them appear as adults. Smuggler Khagesh Kumar has been arrested and an FIR has been registered in the railway station.

Out of a total of 51,000 applicants, many applications were canceled during the verification process. Surendra, a 32-year-old laborer, died after being crushed under a machine in a blanket factory located in Barsat village of Gharaunda. He was getting a cart loaded with wood removed when the unbalanced machine fell on him. The family members have accused the factory management of ignoring safety standards and being negligent. Surendra was the father of three daughters and was the sole supporter of the family. The police is investigating the matter
In Meerut, Brahmapuri police have arrested two ganja smugglers including a woman near Odeon Cinema. 10.5 kg of ganja was recovered from their possession. During vehicle checking, he was caught carrying ganja secretly in an e-rickshaw. The accused have been identified as Tanya and Rahul. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and sent both of them to judicial custody.
A youth named Jogana Hembram was stabbed to death in Jagannathpur, West Singhbhum. He had gone to Ulihatu village, his maternal home, to bring back his brother's wife. During a family dispute, the altercation escalated and an unknown person attacked. The police have registered a case of murder and identified an accused and are conducting raids to arrest him.
Tight security arrangements have been made at 122 fair sites in Gorakhpur on Mahashivratri. Police-administration is on alert, additional forces have been deployed in major temples. Surveillance will be done through drones and CC cameras, the city has been divided into three zones and 11 sectors. There is special focus on temples like Gorakhnath, Mahadev Jharkhandi, where DFMD and dog squad will also be present. Heavy police force including PAC, Inspector and Home Guards has been deployed for the security of the devotees.
Tissue culture lab will be established in Kushinagar to promote scientific cultivation of banana. Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 4.01 crore for this. This lab will provide improved quality disease-free banana plants to the farmers and will also provide training in modern agricultural practices. Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that with this, thousands of farmers will be able to get high quality plants locally, which will reduce their dependence on other states.
