In Chandigarh, cases of cyber crime are on the rise in Punjab, including among educated people like retired officers, doctors and industrialists. According to the cyber cell, digital house arrest cases are expected to increase from 600 in 2023 to 1,200 in 2024, with over Rs 300 crore being defrauded. Fraudsters use the personal information of victims to scare them and dupe them through video calls.
