There is a severe shortage of desks in government schools of Kurukshetra district, due to which thousands of students are forced to study sitting on the floor. The education department demands desks every two months, but the supply is not available. 5594 desks are required in 779 schools of the district, the situation is especially serious in primary schools, where children sit on old cots.

Hundreds of bighas of agricultural land got submerged due to bursting of Budhadana Rajbaha track in Achalda area of Auraiya. The prepared crops of wheat, gram, mustard and potato were submerged in water, causing huge losses to the farmers. JCB driver Manoj Singh, 26, died in a tragic accident late Thursday evening in Chiyanki, Medininagar, Palamu. While harvesting the soil, when the tractor driver went to have lunch, Manoj himself started driving the tractor loaded with soil, which went out of control and overturned. Manoj, who was seriously injured after being crushed under the tractor, was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police sent the body for post-mortem.
Bike riding youth stopped a school bus near Hajipur village in Meerut and beat up the students. The bus driver was threatened with a gun, and a student, Jatin, was brutally beaten. Other children were also threatened with shooting. The bus drivers and conductors remained mute spectators. After the video of the incident went viral, the father of the injured student has lodged an FIR against two named and unidentified people in Lohiyanagar police station. Police is searching for the accused.
On Friday, a youth committed suicide by jumping in front of the Saryu-Yamuna Express at Samastipur Junction. In this incident which took place on platform number one, the young man died on the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened so suddenly that no one could understand anything. Railway police has taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased has not been identified yet and the police is investigating the matter.
