Air Force Controlled Forest Fire In Nanda Devi Area Of Uttarakhand, Major Loss Averted.
The Indian Air Force took immediate action and controlled the forest fire in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve of Uttarakhand. On the request of the state government, Mi-17 V5 helicopters reached Joshimath and bucketed water in the fire-affected area. This action enabled effective control of the fire in difficult terrain, preventing major damage to wildlife and the environment. This reflects the important role of the Air Force in operational readiness and disaster management.
