Strict action has been taken against six senior students in the ragging case at SSJ Government Medical Sciences and Research Institute, Almora. Four students were fined Rs 25,000, while two were banned from all academic and non-academic activities for six months. The government acknowledged that payments to thousands of beneficiaries under the Marriage Assistance Scheme are pending. According to the Social Welfare Department, Rs 163.93 crore has been given to 31,524 beneficiaries, while Rs 70.08 crore for 12,777 others is pending with the treasury since October 2025. The department denied any unnecessary delay, saying the payment was under process and awaiting treasury clearance.

Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation has decided to take strict action against illegal vehicle parking. On Monday, the encroachment squad warned drivers and asked them to use designated parking spaces. The process of confiscating vehicles and imposing heavy fines will start from Tuesday. The corporation conducted the campaign on many routes including Tilkamanjhi Chowk, Zeromile. However, the residents of the city demand that the corporation first ensure adequate parking arrangements.
