Patna High Court Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahu directed lower courts to exercise active and positive discretion in bail matters. He said that the burden on the High Court is increasing due to non-availability of bail even in cases with a sentence of 3-7 years. The CJI appealed for speedy and just disposal from the lower courts, so that the workload of the High Court is reduced and citizens get timely relief.
