Bihar Forest Department and BNHS launched Asian Water Bird Census 2026 in Ghatora Wetland. According to Bhagalpur DFO, more than 10,000 birds of 72 species were counted on Sunday, of which 70 were migratory. This is the highest number so far in Ghatora. The wetland's geographical location and abundant food attracts migratory birds. There has also been a demand to make it a Ramsar site.
