Kaithal Municipal Council has built six new bus queue shelters in the city, which will provide relief to the passengers and students from cold, heat and rain. These shelters have been set up at key locations including Karnal Road, Ambala Road and Jind Road. The council has also opened Common Service Centres, although some are yet to be staffed. With these facilities, the common man will get services near his home.
Devendra, a businessman from Panipat, had come to visit Yamunanagar with his friends on New Year. Late on Thursday evening, he went to take bath in the Western Yamuna Canal near Nagawa Jagir of Police Station Budiya area and drowned. Despite friends stopping him, he did not agree. Police and divers searched throughout the night, but could not find him. SDRF team was also called on Friday.
Haryana Board pre-board exams for class 10th and 12th are starting from January 22 in Faridabad, but students are yet to get free internet facility on their tablets. Due to non-proper use of these tablets provided under the e-learning scheme, the preparation for board exams of about 26,000 students is being affected. Due to deactivation of SIM card and non availability of data, students are not able to avail the study material.
Postmortem of the decapitated body found in the theme park of Kurukshetra was conducted after 72 hours. According to Dr. Naresh Saini, 12-13 knife wounds were found on the stomach and chest of the deceased and the death occurred between 1 and 5 am on Tuesday morning. The police have not yet been able to identify the body and are searching for the killers as well as the head of the deceased. CCTV footage and clues about the artificial leg are being scrutinized.
Social media influencer Harsh Chhikkara's 1100 yard farm house located on Mahalana Road, Sonipat has been sealed by the Municipal Corporation due to illegal construction. Action has been taken against this under construction house being built without map approval. Chhikkara has been in controversies in the past as well; he has been accused of promoting non-standard medicines and giving inflammatory speeches. This new case is increasing their problems further.

The District Deputy Commissioner has taken a strict stance on the pollution caused by burning of banned scrap in Sarurpur Industrial Area of Faridabad. Following the NGT's rebuke, teams of six departments have been formed to take action against the illegal units. These teams will investigate by January 5 and submit the report to NGT by January 15, 2026. Illegal scrap burning units will be sealed, so that air pollution can be controlled.
In Tanda village of Sonipat, the Panchayat called for removing the name plaque from the statue of Maharana Pratap turned into a fight. It is alleged that village sarpanch Rajesh and his five associates attacked Prahlad, his father and brother. An FIR has been registered against six people including the Sarpanch in Rai police station. The Sarpanch has called it a political conspiracy.
Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma has been accused of breaking a fan's mobile phone and abusing him at a resort in Hisar on New Year's Eve. Rinku, resident of Multani Chowk, has lodged a complaint at Azad Nagar police station. Rinku told that while taking a selfie, Masoom Sharma snatched her phone, threw it on the ground and behaved rudely. The police is investigating the matter
There was light drizzle in Haryana during the New Year night and day, due to which the temperature dropped and the cold increased. The sight of the sun was reduced due to fog. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of dense fog and cold wave in the state on Friday, due to which the cold is likely to increase further. Agricultural scientists have described this drizzle as better for crops.
Chief Minister Nayab Saini has taken strict action on the irregularities worth Rs 1500 crore exposed in the Labor Department on the very first day of the new year 2026. On his orders, a high-level inquiry committee has been formed, which is headed by IAS Pankaj Aggarwal. The committee also includes IAS Rajiv Ratan and IPS Pankaj Nain. This committee will submit its detailed report within a month.
Haryana Government has decided to open Sports Excellence Centers in every district, work on which will start in the new year. Based on the inclination of the students and local demand, specific sports centers like cricket in Sirsa, football in Jhajjar, swimming pool in Faridabad and Panchkula will be established. PMShri and Model Sanskriti schools will be equipped with modern sports facilities, so that rural and urban students can get better sports opportunities in their own district.
Ramesh, who was out for a morning walk in Sheeshwala village of Charkhi Dadri, was attacked by two masked attackers with sticks. Ramesh suffered injuries on his hands and legs. The attackers fled after threatening to kill. Injured Ramesh was taken to the hospital. He has lodged a complaint against unknown attackers, on which the Sadar police station has registered a case and started investigation.

Haryana Vigilance Bureau has taken major action against corruption in police and revenue departments. This year, 251 cases were reported, including 147 trap cases, the highest in the last 10 years. 186 accused were arrested and more than Rs 1 crore were recovered. Those arrested include 13 gazetted officers and 150 employees. The bureau has also focused on senior officers.
A massive fire broke out in a plastic factory in the industrial area of Bhiwani late on Wednesday evening. The fire was so terrible that raw and finished goods worth lakhs of rupees were burnt to ashes and the factory building was also damaged. The cause of the fire is unknown. Eight vehicles of the fire department were busy extinguishing the fire, but it could not be completely controlled even till late night.

A newly married youth Abhishek died in a road accident due to dense fog near Pipli Toll on KMP Expressway. His Scorpio collided with a truck parked on the roadside. Six of Abhishek's friends were injured in the accident, out of which the condition of two is critical. Abhishek was married on 29 November and was the only son of his parents. Police have registered a case against the truck driver.
Agent Amanpreet Singh alias Lucky and his associates defrauded a family of Rs 16 lakh in Kurukshetra in the name of sending them to Canada. The accused assured to get study visa for studying business management, but took money by showing fake offer letter. Complainant Avtar Singh's daughter wanted to study in Canada. When the fraud was discovered, the accused absconded. Krishna Gate police station has registered the case and started investigation.
Vinod Kumar, 30, died in a road accident on NH-44 in Shahabad, Kurukshetra. The recovery van made a sudden cut, due to which the motorcycle collided. Vinod was the only brother of two sisters and was going to Kurukshetra to collect the goods. The van driver fled from the spot. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
