Delhi's Garbage Mountains Deadline May Be Postponed Again, Okhla Landfill Will Not Be Cleaned Even Till July

It seems difficult to meet the deadline to close Okhla Landfill in the capital Delhi by July 2026. There are still 1.9 million metric tons of waste left, and the target is impossible to achieve due to the slow pace of work and new waste being added every day. According to Delhi Municipal Corporation reports, 1,400 to 13,146 metric tonnes of garbage is being removed every day, but it is not enough. The deadline has been changed several times in the past, due to which the problem of mountains of garbage in Delhi continues to persist.

Delhi MCD Will Again Start Park Adoption Scheme, RWA Will Get Help Of ₹ 13,500 Per Acre Every Month.

Delhi Municipal Corporation MCD will restart 'Park Adoption Scheme' to maintain parks due to shortage of staff and resources. Under the PPP model, RWAs and voluntary organizations will be able to adopt parks. This proposal is awaiting the approval of the Standing Committee. The Corporation will now provide uniform financial assistance of ₹13,500 per acre per month to all RWAs, thereby ensuring better maintenance of the parks.
