Kanpur Police Encounter: A Robber Shot In The Leg In A Police Encounter, Two Accomplices Absconding

Police had an encounter with three robbers in Rawatpur, Kanpur, in which one robber, Niaz Ahmed, was shot in the leg and his two accomplices fled from the spot. Niaz had committed a robbery with a retired female inspector 14 days ago. The police have admitted the injured robber to the CHC and have started searching for his absconding accomplices. There are already 19 cases registered against Niaz.

The trial of AI-based face reading for the attendance of workers under the 'Ji Ram Ji' scheme will be held in Barabanki on Thursday. This system will scan the iris and face of the worker and match it with Aadhaar, thereby registering online attendance. Its objective is to curb fraud and corruption, where earlier money was embezzled in the name of non-existent workers. The central government has selected Barabanki in UP for this pilot project.

Muzaffarpur Lift Accident: Old Woman Dies After Falling From 5th Floor, Police Admits Maintenance Was Not Proper

A 60-year-old woman died after falling from the fifth floor while entering the lift at Vijay Inclave Apartment in Muzaffarpur. Police registered a case and started investigation, which revealed technical fault and poor maintenance in the lift. CCTV footage showed that the door was open but there was no lift cabin, due to which the woman fell straight down. The police have also held the society committee responsible.
