A fire broke out due to short circuit on Saturday morning in the Fisheries Department office located at Vikas Bhawan in Basti. Two coolers, some old records and a switchboard were destroyed in the fire. Despite it being a holiday, smoke was reported from nearby offices. A historic beginning of 24x7 uninterrupted drinking water supply is being made by Jal Nigam Municipal in Gorakhpur. Under this scheme, water will reach even multi-storey buildings without motor. The pilot project in Sardar Bhagat Singh Nagar ward will start by June. This Rs 21 crore scheme includes 28 km of new pipeline and a large water tank. This will improve water management and people will get relief from water shortage.

The conspiracy of robbery in Gorakhpur was hatched inside the jail, the mastermind of which was Devendra Nishad alias Diana. After being released on bail, Diana got the bail of two associates, who were in jail for theft of Rs 45 lakh. There was a plan to rob a cement merchant, but they accidentally entered the house of a retired accountant. After investigation, the police caught Diana in an encounter, which revealed the jail connection.

In Firozabad, the team of Vigilance Establishment Agra arrested an accountant, Ravindra Kumar, while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a farmer. On the complaint of the farmer, Vigilance laid a trap and caught him red handed, which created panic in the Revenue Department.

An elderly man died after being hit by a train in Chauri Chaura, while a person died after falling from a tree in Harpur-Budhat. A bike rider died after being hit by an unknown vehicle in dense fog in PPganj. A young man injured in a Bolero collision in Barhalganj died during treatment in the hospital. The police took action by taking possession of the dead bodies.
