Punjab Police has cautioned WhatsApp users against 'ghost pairing' scam, in which cyber criminals are hacking accounts through QR codes without OTP. This scam abuses WhatsApp's Linked Devices feature, allowing hackers to take control of accounts by sending QR codes via calls, messages, or video calls. Police have advised to avoid unknown QR codes and keep two-step verification on.
Roadways bus driver Jaswinder Singh, who was riding a motorcycle, died after being hit by an unknown vehicle due to dense fog near village Guddad Dhandi on Firozpur-Fazilka GT Road. He was going on duty. In a critical condition, he was admitted to the Civil Hospital of Firozpur, where he died. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
The Punjab government has constituted SIT to investigate the case of missing 328 forms of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. This SIT will work under the supervision of Police Commissioner Amritsar. The SIT will investigate the maintenance, transfer and records of the forms. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Barinder Singh Ramana has sentenced three convicts to life imprisonment in the case of murder of head constable Sukhwinder Singh due to rivalry. A fine of Rs 1.55 lakh has also been imposed on each convict. The court also convicted him of murderously attacking the deceased's cousin. Two other family members were found guilty of destroying evidence and sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
Firozpur police has arrested 14 people while taking action against drug sellers. 52.21 grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia have been recovered from these accused. Chandigarh district court sentenced woman constable Bhupinderjit Kaur to three years imprisonment for getting compassionate job on the basis of fake certificate. A fine of Rs 4500 has also been imposed on him. A case was registered against the woman in Sector-3 police station 10 years ago. The court said that the accused himself prepared and used the fake certificate.
On Sunday evening, a 26-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself in Faidan village of Chandigarh. The deceased Amit Vishwakarma was a resident of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Before committing suicide, the young man made a video in which he said that he did not want to live. The police have taken possession of the body and started investigation. Amit was a carpenter by profession and was fond of photography.

Police have registered a case against 11 people and arrested one accused, while others are absconding.
