Due to old enmity, a car driver Ajay Kumar Singh was shot dead in Putki police station area of Dhanbad. Late on Wednesday night, a minor altercation turned into a violent brawl in Karkend Sudamdih Colony. Injured Ajay was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The accused is absconding, police have started investigation and have recovered bullets and shells from the spot.
It will be mandatory for candidates to open a separate bank account a day before nomination for the upcoming civic elections in Dhanbad. Under the Municipal Election Rules 2026, this rule has been implemented for transparency and monitoring of election expenditure. All election transactions will be done through this account, and cash transactions will be kept under special watch. Candidates will also have to fill the expenditure account register.

The court of Additional Justice AK Tiwari has sentenced three Maoists, Samuel Hassa, Chambra Munda and Birsa Munda, to 10 years imprisonment each in the case of firing on police. A fine of Rs 42-42 thousand was also imposed on all three. The incident took place in Sogod village of Namkum, where they were demanding levy from the road contractor. One Maoist was injured in police retaliatory action, after which all three were arrested.
Jharkhand Academic Council JAC has released the detailed schedule of annual examinations of classes 8th, 9th and 11th for the academic session 2025-26. These examinations will be held in February 2026 on OMR sheets. The exams for class 8th will start on 24th February, for class 9th from 28th February and for class 11th from 25th February. Students will get additional 15 minutes to read the question paper. Instructions have been given to download the admit card on time.
