Consumers Of UP Will Get 'shock' Of Electricity In The New Year, Will Have To Shell Out Money

Electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh may get a shock in the new year because now they will have to pay the full price of smart prepaid meters. The Ministry of Power, Government of India has issued instructions in this regard to the Electricity Regulatory Commissions, following which the electricity rates are likely to increase in the tariff order of 2026-27. The Consumer Council has opposed this decision, as consumers will have to pay the cost of the meter twice.
