In Gorakhpur, a person has been made a victim of fraud of Rs 5 lakh by showing that he had sold land. Swaraj Shukla, a businessman in Delhi, has lodged a complaint with the Khajni police alleging that Jagdamba Shukla sold him a land in Hariharpur which had already been sold to someone else. The accused threatened to kill him if he asked for the money back. Police have registered the case and started investigation.

ED Takes Major Action Against Rohtas And Associated Companies In Money Laundering Case, Assets Worth Rs 350 Crore Attached

ED has attached assets worth Rs 350 crore of Rohtas Group and its associate companies in the money laundering case. These include 75 immovable and two movable properties. Group promoter Deepak Rastogi is accused of duping people of crores of rupees in the name of flats. ED had started investigation on the basis of 83 FIRs, in which it was found that investors' money was used to buy benami properties.

Police seized 40,000 bottles of banned Viscof syrup containing codeine being taken from Dehradun to Bihar in Etawah. Their estimated price is Rs 50 lakh. Three people were arrested in this case and Rs 4.35 lakh in cash was recovered from them. Buying and selling of this syrup in large quantities is prohibited in Bihar, there is a suspicion that it was being taken for intoxication. Police has taken action under NDPS Act.
