Pilgrim priests and local people have demanded the district and police administration to stop such activities, so that the sanctity and peace of the Dham is maintained.
The series of threats received by Kotdwar resident Deepak Kumar after calling him 'Mohammed Deepak' continues. Rishikesh Municipal Corporation demolished a two-storey illegal building built on government land in Chandreshwar Nagar. A young man and a girl were brutally murdered late night in Haldwani's Galla Mandi. The heads and mouths of both were badly crushed with stones. In Dehradun, there was a police encounter with the accused of murder of businessman Arjun Sharma. Gas agency owner Arjun Sharma was shot dead in Tibetan Market on Wednesday morning. Two miscreants were shot in the legs in the encounter that took place in Raipur and Laltappad area in the early hours of Thursday, after which they were arrested. The miscreants have confessed to carrying out the murder.

Till now, in this Scheduled Caste dominated area, water had to be fetched from a well half a kilometer away. Dehradun Food Safety and Drug Administration launched public awareness campaign before the festivals. 71 food items were tested through mobile analysis laboratory. In this, less milk fat was found in five milk samples, while starch was found in three spices. The department is also providing free testing facility to common consumers. Samples of pulses were taken in Vikasnagar and traders were instructed to display their licenses.
A 48-hour sonar survey was conducted to solve the mystery of water leakage in the head race tunnel of Maneri Bhali Phase-2 Hydroelectric Project of Uttarakhand. This survey will determine the size of the leak, duration and method of repair. Currently 1,500 liters of water is leaking per second, affecting power generation and the surrounding land. Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited is trying to repair the tunnel without closing it.

Nainital High Court, Vice Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University, Prof. Heard the petition challenging the appointment of Shriprakash Singh. The court has directed the University Grants Commission UGC to file its reply within three weeks. The petitioner has termed the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor as a violation of UGC rules, which mandate ten years of experience as a professor in the university. Public Works Department Minister Satpal Maharaj reviewed the Kainchi Dham bypass project in Bhimtal. This 18.2 km long bypass will be operational by June 15, 2026, which will ease the travel of devotees and tourists. Due to delay in construction of the bridge on Shipra river, a bailey bridge will be constructed before the tourist season. The Minister directed the officials to ensure timely and quality work.
In Vikasnagar, Dehradun, a Scheduled Caste married woman has filed a case against her husband and in-laws accusing her of harassment. The woman told that since she belonged to a different caste, her in-laws had built two temples in the house and also hated working in the kitchen. The husband cheated and sold the house and also beat her. The police is investigating the matter
A makhane elephant died in Shyampur range of Haridwar forest division. According to forest officials, the elephant first had a fight with another elephant, after which it was attacked by the tiger in its injured state. During investigation, claw marks of the tiger were found and meat was missing from the body. The team of doctors buried the elephant's body after post-mortem. The age of the elephant is estimated to be 30-35 years.
The date of opening of the doors of the world famous Kedarnath Dham will be decided on the occasion of Mahashivratri on 15th February. Badri Kedar Temple Committee has intensified its preparations. During winter season, worship of Baba Kedarnath is done in Omkareshwar temple, Ukhimath. Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken a tough stance on haphazard digging of roads and ignoring safety standards. Road cutting permission of seven construction agencies has been canceled due to lack of improvement despite repeated warnings. Now these agencies will not be able to dig further. The District Magistrate has directed the Public Works Department and other concerned departments to repair the roads within 10 days.
In Sultanpur town, a minor dispute between children took the form of a serious fight between two parties. A total of 10 people, including four women, were injured in the fight with sticks. Police reached the spot and calmed down the situation and took the injured to the hospital. Both parties have lodged complaints and investigation into the matter is ongoing.

It will be mandatory to mention the doctor's OPD number on the medicine bill. The department will take strict action against irregularities, so that misuse of antibiotics can be stopped. This campaign will continue in public interest.
