Despite the severe cold in Jammu, homeless people are forced to sleep on the footpaths. The night shelter at Boria, which was meant to provide shelter to those sleeping on the footpath, is no longer effective due to a fee of Rs 100 and turning into a shelter house for destitute people. Due to lack of bonfire or free arrangements by the administration, the lives of these poor people are at stake, which raises questions on the system.

Jammu And Kashmir Chief Secretary Dullu's Strict Instructions, All Schools Should Have Toilet Facilities For Girl Students By 15th February

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dullu has directed to ensure separate and functional toilet facilities for girl students in all government schools by February 15. He stressed that all necessary facilities including water should be available in toilets. At present 1,321 schools do not have this facility, for which construction and repair work will be completed within the stipulated time. Zone-level committees will be formed for effective implementation.

Three residential houses and a cow shed were reduced to ashes in a massive fire in Kandi Karnah in North Kashmir's Kupwara district. Four cattle died in this incident. The Indian Army lost a soldier and two porters in two separate accidents in the Kashmir Valley. Haryana's soldier Heera Lal was martyred after slipping from a height during night patrolling in Sheeri, Baramulla.
