Dehradun Police has pasted a notice at the Haridwar residence of former MLA Suresh Rathore in the Ankita Bhandari case. Haridwar Police has already given notice to Rathore regarding the case registered in Bahadarabad police station. Urmila Sanawar has also received three notices. Both are still missing and are trying to get a stay from the High Court to avoid arrest.
Haldwani's biggest market remained closed for nine hours in protest against the alleged harassment of traders and indecent behavior of Mandi Parishad Chairman Dr. Anil Kapoor Dabbu. On the assurance of BJP District President and Mandi Committee Administrator, the traders postponed the bandh, but gave an extension of 15 days. Traders are adamant on demanding the resignation of Dr. Dabbu, who had used derogatory language on a public platform.
Two youths of Sitarganj, Yuganpreet Singh and Mohd. were killed when their uncontrolled Thar car overturned in Kichha. Saif, died tragically. One of his associates, Sohail Ansari, is seriously injured and is undergoing treatment in Rudrapur. The accident occurred while returning from Haldwani to Sitarganj on Wednesday midnight, when the car collided with an electric pole. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Uttarakhand Excise Department has issued 608 one day bar licenses across the state for the celebration of New Year 2026. However, the department has warned of strict action against violation of rules. Adherence to 'Don't Drink and Drive', fire safety and adequate parking have been made mandatory. Illegal liquor and overrating will also be tightened. A new bottling plant is also ready in Haridwar.
The year ended with severe cold and fog in the Terai-Bhabar regions of Kumaon. The sun was not visible for three consecutive days, due to which the melting increased. The temperature remained low in Haldwani. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave and fog will continue in the plains till January 4, while there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the hilly areas till January 2. 45-year-old Manju Devi, who had gone to wash clothes in Ramganga river in Syalde, Almora, died due to drowning. His body was found on the river bank about 27 hours later. Police suspect that she might have fallen into the river due to slipping. Masi police has sent the body for post-mortem, after which the real cause of death will be clear. There is mourning in the village due to this tragic incident.
The construction work of Bajrang Setu in Rishikesh will be completed by the end of this month, which will provide great relief to the local people, tourists and devotees. This bridge will become an alternative to the Laxmanjhula bridge which was closed on 13 July 2019. This bridge, being built at a cost of Rs 68.86 crore, will connect Tapovan and Laxmanjhula. 109 people were affected in the tunnel accident at the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydroelectric project site in Joshimath in Chamoli district. This incident occurred due to collision of trolleys inside the tunnel. A total of 70 people were treated, of which 66 were discharged after first aid, while 4 seriously injured persons have been admitted to hospital. 21 people were found safe.
Due to the messages and awareness campaigns of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cases of cyber fraud have decreased in the year 2025. This year, 24442 complaints were registered, in which Rs 117 crore were defrauded, but Rs 27.2 crore were saved. Cases of digital arrest also decreased. Cyber Excellence Center will open in Dehradun and policemen will get training, which is expected to further control cyber crimes in future.

A major accident took place in the tunnel of THDC's Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydro power project in Chamoli district on Tuesday night. More than 100 people, including engineers, employees and workers, were injured when two loco trains collided. In the initial investigation, brake failure is being said to be the reason. The injured have been admitted to the District Hospital and Vivekananda Hospital, while some seriously injured are being referred to Srinagar.

A passenger bus fell into a ditch near Sailapani in Bhikiyasain, killing six people. The bus was going towards Ramnagar. As soon as information about the accident was received, police, administration and disaster management teams reached the spot and started rescue operations with the help of local people. The injured have been sent to nearby health centres. Due to the depth of the ditch, rescue work is becoming difficult.
Strict action will be taken against those who drink alcohol or drive at high speed on Thirty First in Dehradun. Teams of transport and police departments will start checking on major routes from the morning of December 31. If caught, there can be a heavy fine, license cancellation and up to six months in jail. A brick laden truck crushed cyclist Mahavir Singh at ISBT Chowk in Dehradun, resulting in his death. Seriously injured Mahavir was taken to the hospital, but he died on the way. The accused truck driver fled from the spot. Police have seized the truck and started interrogating the owner. This is the second accident at the same place, raising questions on the traffic system.

A black Himalayan bear which was creating terror in Pokhri area of Chamoli has been caught by the Forest Department and brought to Dehradun Zoo. This bear is now eating apple and guava in the zoo. According to experts, due to food shortage in the mountains and climate change, bears are coming towards villages, increasing human-wildlife conflict. The behavior of the bear is being monitored in the zoo.
